Former Google Engineering Compliance Leader Joins Mimoto

Security Adherence Company Adds to Its Own Security Efforts

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 27, 2023 – Mimoto, a pioneer in security adherence, today announced that Tommy Ward, former director of engineering compliance at Google, has joined the company. Tommy will serve as both an advisor to Mimoto’s leadership as well as lead the company’s own internal security planning and compliance efforts.

“Mimoto’s customers trust Mimoto to identify and address internal security and policy adherence issues. It’s important that our own security practices and protocols are of the highest standard,” said Mimoto CEO and Co-founder Kris Bondi. “Tommy’s expertise and experience implementing Google’s security compliance program makes him a dream addition to the Mimoto team.”

Tommy Ward added, “People are the weakest link in any security or compliance plan. Mimoto is addressing a significant gap in security solutions: how to know if people are actually following their organization’s security policies?”

Mimoto matches a verified machine learning-generated profile with a specific human to recognize and correct deviations from security policies. Internal human activities, whether accidental or malicious, are a contributor to more than 90% of security breaches.

Tommy’s career in infosec and risk management spans more than three decades. Most recently, he served as Google’s Director of Engineering Compliance. In that role, he built and managed the Engineering Compliance team, led the implementation of the company’s first ISMS, which lead to the certification of hundreds of products for ISO-27001, ISO-27017, and ISO-27018, and helmed the process to deliver SOC 1 and SOC 2. Tommy was also the company’s first HIPAA Security Officer and served as Lab Director for a NIST Accredited lab for testing and validation of Google’s implementation of cryptographic algorithms. In addition, Tommy has held information security roles at other world-class organizations, including EMC, RSA, Securify, MSB Associates, and Digital Pathways. He started his infosec career in the US Navy.
